In Latin, Viva Lux translates as living light. The idea for Viva Lux was born shortly after my wife, Kristen, and I got married in July of 2016. At the time, I was running our parent company Media Mountain, and my wife was developing her photography portfolio. We really wanted to create a brand that represented our dynamic as a couple, and showcased our unique skill sets. Viva Lux was the result. Viva translates as living and, to us, represents the special moments we get to celebrate and cherish in life. Lux, on the other hand, embodies the essence of photography, the reading and capturing of light. Hence, our slogan: “To capture the light, is to preserve a living moment.”

The less obvious and perhaps more relevant meaning to our name, is that it’s an accurate way to describe both Kristen and I as a collective unit and how we choose to live our lives together. We’ve decided that to be a “Living Light” reflects the influence we want to have on others - one of positivity, optimism, joy, and peace. We love photography, videography, and being creative all-around, but Viva Lux is about more than the services we offer. It is about the way we connect with people in real and meaningful ways.

KRISTEN

My love for photography started at a young age, being the “typical tourist” on family vacations. I would always be the last one to leave a scenic view, as the words “come on Kristen, let’s go!” resounded from my family, who were usually waiting in the car for me while I attempted to get the perfect sunset shot. The thought that I could capture the brilliance of nature with my camera was exhilarating to me as a kid. As I stepped into portrait photography, I soon realized that, not only could I capture the beauty of a single moment with my camera, but I could now tell an entire story through one glimpse of my lens. Everyone has a story. My goal is to tell that story to the best of my ability, while using my friendly, warm and gentle nature to add to the overall client experience.

SAMMY

I am a storyteller at heart, with the ability to create high quality content across a range of digital mediums. Ten years ago, I started at Bridges of Hope, which broadened my creative horizons when I had to pick up a camera and start shooting. I always had a creative drive, going to school for recording arts, but the push into photography opened me up to new media and creative experiences. I've jumped at every chance since to seek new ways to pursue my creativity across a range of mediums. From photography to videography, song-writing, or making films, these creative endeavors have put me in touch with a variety of passionate people. As I connected with each person, I found unique creative abilities, which I've collected and encouraged to create my company, Media Mountain.
